Invisible Children Africa Tragedy - What Would You Do?

During spring of 2003, filmmakers Jason Russell, Bobby Bailey, and Laren Poole traveled to Africa to film a documentary about Africa's longest war. Children are being forcibly removed from their homes and turned into child soldiers by the army of Joeseph Koney, known as the Lord's Resistance Army or LRA. This caused the children to walk miles every night to places of refuge in order to avoid these abductions. This documentary tells their story of fear and terror of being separated from their families.

Invisible Children is a non profit group that helps these children be reunited with their families and prevent new abductions from happening. They rebuild schools that have been ravaged by the LRA and install radio towers to keep the families informed of the LRA's movement and activity in the area. This is extremely important because early warning helps these families commute to safe havens before abductions can happen. They also help in the encouragement of defection from the LRA and rehabilitation centers are being built to reunite these children with their families.

Invisible children has trying to get the word out and is trying to raise money to help these families. Santiago High School and my daughter has formed a group to try and help this cause. As a parent myself I feel we need to stop this and help these families as much as possible. We are fortunate and sometimes can't comprehend what families in third world countries go through on a daily basis. The new generation of teens are doing something that I think the last generation dropped the ball on and that is helping other people in need.
